Shaheen Shah Afridi took a four-wicket haul and Haris Rauf claimed five wickets on the third day of the first-round matches in the President’s Trophy on Monday.

Shaheen returned figures of 14.5-0-61-4 as Ghani Glass, resuming at 200 for five, were dismissed for 306 in reply to Khan Research Laboratory’s 547 for nine declared. KRL opted not to enforce the follow-on and reached 164 for one in their second innings to take an overall lead of 405 runs with nine wickets in hand.

Haseebullah of Ghani Glass fell one run short of a well-deserved century when he was bowled by KRL captain Iftikhar Ahmed for 99. He faced 121 balls and struck 12 fours.

At stumps, KRL’s Shahzaib Khan and Fakhar Zaman were unbeaten on 76 each.

Haris Rauf returned figures of 13-3-34-5 as Pakistan Television bowled Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) out for 204 after PTV had posted 400. Faisal Akram provided excellent support with 4-51 from 19 overs.

Forced to follow on, OGDCL were 64 for three at stumps and still trail PTV by 132 runs.

State Bank of Pakistan opener Hasan Raza struck 103 to put his side in a strong position to push for victory against Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). After conceding a 30-run first-innings lead, SBP reached 190 for one at stumps to lead by 160 runs with nine wickets in hand.

Hasan faced 178 balls and struck 10 fours and a six. He shared a 186-run opening stand with Faham-ul-Haq, who scored 78 off 168 balls with 10 fours.

Earlier, SNGPL added 27 runs to their overnight 161 for five before being bowled out for 188. Kashif Bhatti produced outstanding figures of 26-11-40-6.

MIT Solutions were facing defeat against Kingsmen Academy after ending the day 203 for five, still 32 runs behind. Kingsmen had declared their first innings at 565 for seven before MIT resumed at 179 for three and were dismissed for 330.

Opener Mohammad Farooq top-scored with 117 off 111 balls, hitting 11 fours and six sixes. Akif Javed was the pick of the Academy attack with 6-79 from 18.5 overs.

In their second innings, MIT reached 203 for five at stumps, with Farooq again top-scoring, this time with 67.
