Women’s U19 Series: Bangladesh Set Final Date With Sri Lanka
Bangladesh Women’s U19 defeated Pakistan Women’s U19 by 32 runs at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Sunday to secure a place in the 16 October tri-nation T20 final against Sri Lanka.
In the seventh match of the tournament, Bangladesh posted 136 for five before restricting Pakistan to 104 for nine in their allotted 20 overs.
Although Sri Lanka will face Pakistan on Monday and Bangladesh on Wednesday, the finalists have already been decided. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have recorded three victories apiece, while Pakistan have managed just one win.
Bangladesh’s innings revolved around No.5 batter Sadia Islam, who struck a brisk 44 from 28 deliveries, including three fours and two sixes.
Shrina Khatun contributed 32 from 40 balls before being retired out, while Nishita Akter Nishi added a run-a-ball 20.
In reply, Pakistan struggled to build partnerships and finished on 104 for nine. Opener Ravail Farhan top-scored with 36 from 26 deliveries, including two fours and two sixes, while Aqsa Habib contributed 23 from 32 balls.
Farjana Easmin was the pick of Bangladesh’s bowlers with three for 19, while Nishita Akter Nishi claimed two for 21 to complete an impressive all-round performance.
Nishita was adjudged player of the match for her contribution with both bat and ball.
