Omaima, Samiya, Rameen, Eyman Steal Limelight
Omaima Sohail and Samiya Afsar struck impressive half-centuries, while Rameen Shamim starred with the ball on the second day of the National Women’s T20 Tournament in Faisalabad on Sunday.
Omaima hammered 72 from just 42 balls, including 12 fours and a six, while Natalia Pervaiz contributed an unbeaten 31 from 23 deliveries as Strikers posted 164 for seven against Challengers at the Bohranwali Ground. Eman Naseer chipped in with 22, while Saira Jabeen claimed three for 18.
In reply, Challengers were bundled out for 62 in 14.5 overs to suffer a crushing 102-run defeat. Rameen produced outstanding figures of three for five from four overs, including a maiden, while Syeda Masooma Zahra took two for 14.
Omaima was adjudged player of the match.
In the other match at the same venue, Invincibles defeated Conquerors by eight wickets, with Samiya Afsar leading the successful run-chase.
Batting first, Conquerors scored 121 for seven, with Aliya Riaz striking an unbeaten 44 from 33 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Gull Rukh contributed 21, while Anosha Nasir claimed three for 27 and Tayyaba Imdad took two for eight.
Invincibles reached their target in just 14.4 overs, finishing on 122 for two. Opener Samiya struck a fluent 57 from 39 deliveries, including seven fours and a six, while Sidra Amin remained unbeaten on 38 and Gull Feroza contributed 23.
Samiya was named player of the match.
On the opening day on Saturday, Eyman Fatima produced a breathtaking unbeaten century to power Invincibles to a commanding 72-run victory over Challengers. She struck 100 from just 49 deliveries, smashing 12 fours and six sixes, while Sidra Amin contributed 48 as Invincibles amassed 175 for four.
Challengers were then dismissed for 103 in 17 overs, with Syeda Aroob Shah taking three for 24, Tayyaba Imdad two for four and Lubna Behram two for 18.
Eyman was named player of the match.
In Saturday’s other fixture, Conquerors defeated defending champions Stars by 16 runs.
Gull Rukh scored 42 and Kaynat Hafeez contributed 27 as Conquerors posted 120 for nine. Stars were subsequently dismissed for 104 in 19.3 overs despite contributions from Manahil Rafiq (35) and Diana Baig (28).
Gull Rukh was named player of the match.
