MIT Solutions posted an impressive 364 for nine against State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on the opening day of the sixth round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I at the Diamond Cricket Ground on Monday.

Put into bat, MIT Solutions benefited from contributions throughout the batting order to reach a formidable total in 74 overs.

Abuzar Tariq top-scored with 77 from 125 balls, striking 11 fours and a six, while Khalid Usman (41), Atizaz Habib Khan (40), Mohammad Farooq (39), Hasnain Nadeem (36), Mohammad Ismail (26) and Mohammad Tahir Khan (21) made useful contributions.

Test fast bowler Mohammad Abbas was once again the pick of the State Bank bowlers, claiming three wickets for 51 runs. Shahid Aziz also took three wickets but conceded 120 runs, while Naqeebullah returned figures of two for 43.

In the other match at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Ahmed Bashir claimed four for 59 and Arshad Iqbal took three for 43 as Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) dismissed Pakistan Television (PTV) for 220 after the latter elected to bat first.

For PTV, Sharoon Siraj scored a patient 64 from 170 balls, including nine fours, while Taimur Khan struck 62 from 133 deliveries, hitting six fours and three sixes.

The pair added 115 runs for the fifth wicket to rescue PTV from a precarious 68 for four. However, their partnership ended at 183, triggering a collapse in which PTV lost their remaining wickets for just 37 runs to be dismissed for 220 in 49.4 overs.

Daniyal Ahmed Khan supported Ahmed and Arshad with two wickets for 44 runs.

In reply, KRL reached 59 for two in 18 overs at stumps, trailing by 161 runs. Shahzaib Khan (25 not out) and Iftikhar Ahmed (15 not out) will resume their innings on Tuesday.
