LAHORE: A four-wicket haul by Usman Khan and half-centuries by Hamza Zahoor and Farhan Yousuf guided Pakistan Men’s U19 to a one-wicket victory over Afghanistan Men’s U19 in the second match of the tri-nation series at Harare Sports Club on Saturday.

Usman returned figures of 10-0-37-4 and was well supported by Mohammad Sayyam (two for 41) and Daniyal Ali Khan (two for 47) as Afghanistan were bowled out for 226 in 50 overs.

Osman Sadat top-scored with 75 and put on 70 for the second wicket with Faisal Shinozada (31). Mahboob Khan (49) was the other notable contributor, as Afghanistan slipped from 189 for three to 226 all out after losing their last seven wickets for 37 runs.

In reply, Pakistan reached the target for the loss of nine wickets with three balls to spare. Wicketkeeper-batter Hamza Zahoor added an unbroken 29 for the 10th wicket with Niqab Shafiq, who faced nine balls for one. Hamza finished unbeaten on a match-winning 68 off 51 balls, with eight fours and a six. He came to the crease with Pakistan 135 for five, still needing 92 runs.

Captain Farhan Yousuf also starred with 65 off 78 balls (six fours, two sixes). After Pakistan slipped to 42 for three, Farhan and Ahmed Hussain (31) put on 89 for the fourth wicket.

For Afghanistan, Salam Khan (four for 44) and Zaitullah Shaheen (two for 52) shared wickets.
