LAHORE: Fast bowler Umar Zaib took a five-wicket haul to bowl Pakistan Men’s U19 to a 133-run victory over Afghanistan Men’s U19 in the fifth match of the three-nation series at the Sunrise Sports Club in Harare on Friday. This was Pakistan’s second successive victory over Afghanistan and third of the series. Their first match against Zimbabwe was a no-result, while their next match against Zimbabwe is on Sunday.

Umar returned figures of 7.2-0-31-5 as Afghanistan were dismissed for 105 in 30.2 overs after being set a 239-run target. Ahmed Hussain and Momin Qamar bagged two wickets apiece, conceding 2 and 26 runs respectively.

For Afghanistan, only Mahboob Khan (29), Faisal Shinozada (20), Khatir Stanikzai (18) and Khalid Ahmadzai (15) reached double-figures.

Earlier, Pakistan, electing to bat first, made 238 for nine in their 50 overs following contributions from several batters: Sameer Minhas (56), Usman Khan (43), Ali Hassan Baloch (39), Ahmed Hussain (25) and Farhan Yousuf (21).

Sameer struck six fours and a six in a 49-ball innings and put on 78 runs for the opening wicket with Ali Hassan Baloch. For the second wicket, Sameer added 36 runs with Usman Khan.

Pakistan are in Zimbabwe as part of their preparations for the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup, which will be held in Namibia and Zimbabwe from 15 January to 6 February.
