Sirajuddin, Aamir Take Six Each As 18 Wickets Fall at Bagh-e-Jinnah
Eighteen wickets fell on the opening day of the five-day President’s Trophy final at the Bagh-e-Jinnah between MIT Solutions and State Bank of Pakistan.
Sirajuddin returned figures of 9-0-39-6 to help State Bank of Pakistan skittle out MIT Solutions for 112 in 29.5 overs. However, Pakistan all-rounder Aamir Jamal led MIT Solution’s fightback, taking 10-3-14-6 as State Bank of Pakistan closed the day at 136 for eight in 36 overs.
Opening day’s scores will certainly raise cricket managers’ eyebrows as it is evident that the wicket was either unsuitable and under-prepared for the final of one of PCB’s prestigious tournaments. The match is being played at the Bagh-e-Jinnah following a comedy of errors, which further highlights poor management and planning of the departmental tournament being held during a period when the department sides are facing financial crises.
In MIT Solutions’ 112 in 29.5 overs, Aizaz Habib Khan top-scored with 29 from 30 balls with three fours and a six. In State Bank of Pakistan’s 136-8 in 36 overs, opener Hasan Raza was the top-scorer with 36 from 53 balls including six fours.
Rameez Aziz (14) and Sirajuddin (8) will resume State Bank of Pakistan’s first innings on Tuesday as the final braces for an earlier finish than planned.
