Opener Ravail Farhan scored an unbeaten half-century as Pakistan Women’s U19 defeated South Africa Women’s U19 by 47 runs in the second match to level the five-match series at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Friday.

16-year-old Ravail from Lahore scored 68 not out and put on 63 runs for the first wicket with Komal Khan as the home side posted 125 for four after being sent into bat. Pakistan’s bowling was shared among five bowlers as the visitors were dismissed for 78 in 17.1 overs, with Jae-Leigh Filander unable to bat.

Pakistan backed up their batting with a disciplined bowling and fielding effort, with sharp catching helping restrict South Africa’s lower order.

Ravail’s 68 came from 64 balls and included nine fours and two sixes, while Komal faced 24 balls and scored 23 runs with three fours and a six. Zoofishan Ayyaz was the other Pakistan batter to reach double figures, scoring 11.

In turn, three Pakistan bowlers shared seven wickets between them as South Africa were bowled out for 78. Mahnoor Zeb took three wickets for 21 runs, Maham Nazakat took two wickets for eight and Mah Noor bagged two for 19.

For South Africa, Diedre van Rensburg (20), Mieke van Voorst (18) and Ashleigh van Wyk (13) were the main run-scorers.

The third match will be played on Sunday.
