Noman’s 7-130, Abdullah’s 185; OGDCL and SNGPL In Relegation Zone

Left-arm spinner Noman Ali claimed seven wickets as Ghani Glass secured first-innings lead points against Kingsmen Academy in a weather-affected President’s Trophy sixth-round match that ended in a draw at Rana Naveedul Hasan Cricket Academy in Sheikhupura.

Noman returned figures of 35.2-7-130-7 as Kingsmen Academy were dismissed for 347 after resuming the fourth day at 14 for two in reply to Ghani Glass’s 417 for eight declared. Ghani Glass were eight for one in their second innings when the match ended.

While Noman led Ghani Glass’s bowling effort, Mohammad Tayyab and Saud Shakeel starred with the bat for Kingsmen Academy.

Tayyab scored 122 off 147 balls, hitting 15 fours and four sixes, while Saud made 112 off 161 balls with 13 fours. The pair added 206 runs for the fourth wicket after Kingsmen Academy had slipped to 18 for three. After their partnership ended at 224, the remaining batters added only 123 runs, with Usman Khan contributing 41 off 65 balls, including seven fours.

At the LCCA Ground, Abdullah Shafique scored 185 but could not secure first-innings lead points for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), who finished on 329 for nine in reply to Oil and Gas Development Company Limited’s (OGDCL) 351. SNGPL captain Shan Masood did not bat after retiring hurt on Friday.

Abdullah resumed the day on 105 with SNGPL at 185 for three. He was eventually dismissed for 185 off 312 balls, including 16 fours and three sixes.

OGDCL’s Mohammad Amir Khan was the pick of the bowlers, taking five for 86.

OGDCL reached 123 for two in their second innings before the match ended, with Saad Khan scoring 59 and Ali Zaryab unbeaten on 44.

The seventh and final round of league matches begins on 19 October, while the five-day final is scheduled to start in Karachi on 24 October. However, the final’s start date may change because only one day separates the final round matches from the scheduled opening day at the SBP Sports Complex.

After six rounds, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) lead the table with 95 points, 13 ahead of Ghani Glass on 82. Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) and Kingsmen Academy share third place on 76 points each. Pakistan Television (PTV) are fifth on 71, followed by MIT Solutions on 69, OGDCL on 58 and SNGPL on 53.

With the bottom-placed team set to be relegated next season, OGDCL and SNGPL are in the relegation zone. They will need to win their final league matches against Ghani Glass and KRL respectively to retain their first-class status for the 2027-28 season.
