MIT Solutions Have One Foot in Final, Imam Hits 200 Not Out

MIT Solutions defeated Pakistan Television (PTV) by six wickets on the third day of the seventh and final-round President’s Trophy match at the Diamond Cricket Ground on Wednesday.

This was MIT Solutions’ second victory and helped them finish the league stage with 96 points. State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Ghani Glass are their closest rivals on 95 and 82 points, respectively.

Kingsmen Academy were 139 runs ahead with eight second-innings wickets in hand against SBP, while Ghani Glass needed another 96 runs with seven wickets remaining to avoid an innings defeat against Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), who are fighting to stay in first-class cricket by finishing in the top seven.

Bottom-placed Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), who need to beat Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) to keep alive their hopes of avoiding relegation, required another 104 runs with six wickets remaining. Mohammad Rizwan (22) and Abdul Samad (11) will resume SNGPL’s innings on Thursday morning.

PTV, who resumed at 177 for two after being forced to follow on, still trailing by 171 runs, were dismissed for 394, with Waqar Hussain scoring 171 and Taimur Khan 151. The two batters added 316 runs for the third wicket, but after the partnership ended at 335, the remaining wickets fell like a house of cards.

After SNGPL claimed a 44-run first-innings lead, KRL resumed their second innings at 111 for two and were dismissed for 234. No. 8 batter Daniyal Ali Khan was KRL’s notable scorer on Wednesday with an 83-ball 59 with eight fours and a six, while Mohammad Faiq added just two runs to his overnight 64.
