A five-wicket haul by Israr Hussain put Pakistan Television (PTV) firmly in control against Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) on the second day of the sixth round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Israr returned impressive figures of 12.2-2-56-5 and was well supported by Kashif Ali (3-33) and Khalil Ahmed (2-27) as KRL, resuming at 59 for two in reply to PTV’s first-innings total of 220, were bundled out for 129.

Shahzaib Khan, who resumed on 25, managed only six more runs before being dismissed for 31, while Iftikhar Ahmed added 10 to his overnight score of 15 to finish on 25.

Armed with a valuable 91-run first-innings lead, PTV reached 44 for two at stumps, extending their overall advantage to 135 runs with eight second-innings wickets remaining.

At the Diamond Cricket Ground, only 42.3 overs of play were possible between MIT Solutions and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

MIT Solutions added 12 runs to their overnight total of 364 for nine before being dismissed for 376 in 76.3 overs. Sirajuddin claimed the final wicket to finish with two for 76.

Mohammad Abbas returned figures of three for 61, while Shahid Aziz also claimed three wickets, conceding 120 runs.

In reply, SBP made a promising start, reaching 108 without loss before suffering a collapse to close the day on 138 for four in 40 overs.

Khalid Usman triggered the collapse with three wickets for just 17 runs, leaving SBP trailing by 238 runs with six first-innings wickets remaining.

Opener Abdullah Fazal scored 58 from 91 balls, including seven fours and two sixes, while Hasan Raza contributed 51 from 118 deliveries, striking seven fours and a six.
