LAHORE: 1998 champions England defeated two-time winners Pakistan by 37 runs in a Group C match of the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup 2026 in Harare on Friday.

Put into bat, England were bowled out for 210 in 46.5 overs, but struck back to dismiss Pakistan for 173 in 46.3 overs. Pakistan’s next match is on 19 January against Scotland, followed by a game against Zimbabwe on 22 January.

Pakistan had slumped to 85 for six in the chase before captain Farhan Yousaf and Abdul Subhan added 48 for the seventh wicket to revive the innings. However, a misunderstanding led to Subhan’s run-out, which was soon followed by Farhan’s dismissal off a mishit before Pakistan’s innings ended at 173 with the comical run-out of Ali Raza.

Yousaf top-scored with 65 off 86 balls, hitting three fours and four sixes, while Momin Qamar made 18 not out. Huzaifa Ahsan (17), Abdul Subhan (14), Ahmed Hussain (12), Sameer Minhas (10) and Umar Zaib (10) were the other Pakistan batters to reach double figures, with Momin Qamar unbeaten on 18.

England’s wickets were shared around, led by Alex Green (two for 21), James Minto (two for 23) and Ralphie Albert (two for 23), with Farhan Ahmed (one for 37) and Manny Lumsden (one for 30) also chipping in.

Earlier, Caleb Falconer anchored England’s innings with 66 off 73 balls, striking three fours and two sixes. Opener Ben Dawkins made 33, while Ralphie Albert scored 25 and Ben Mayes added 20.

For Pakistan, Ahmed Hussain was the pick with three for 38, while Abdul Subhan (two for 24), Ali Raza (two for 36) and Momin Qamar (two for 45) were the other successful bowlers.
