WAPDA tightens screws around SNGPL
LAHORE: WAPDA put a stranglehold on SNGPL when they left the star-studded side tottering at stumps on the second day of the five-day President’s Trophy final at the Gaddafi Stadium here on Monday.
WAPDA, after adding 32 runs to their overnight score of 233 for six to be bowled out for 265, struck back with a vengeance that surprised SNGPL, who finished the day at 110 for nine.
Opener Azan Awais saved SNGPL’s blushes with a 117-ball 48, including seven fours, while captain Mohammad Rizwan was the other batter to reach double figures, scoring 15.
For WAPDA, young Naqeebullah continued his fine run of form, finishing as the most successful bowler with three for 30. Mohammad Zeeshan also had a good day in the office, finishing with three for 47. Aqib Khan snapped up two wickets for 23 runs.
Earlier, WAPDA were bowled out for 265, with Bismillah Khan scoring 56. He had started the day on 48. His innings included seven fours.
For SNGPL, Test all-rounder Aamir Jamal picked up one more wicket this morning to end with four for 67, while Shehzad Gul finished with three for 69.
