Usman Salahuddin struck an unbeaten century, but JDW conceded a 15-run first-innings lead to National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) on the second day of their President’s Trophy Grade-II Gold match at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi on Monday.

Usman scored 135 not out as JDW, resuming at 45 for one in reply to NBP’s 305 for nine, finished on 290 for nine. At stumps, NBP had reached 122 for one to extend their overall lead to 137 runs with nine second-innings wickets remaining.

Usman, who played one Test and two ODIs for Pakistan between 2018 and 2021, faced 187 balls and struck 16 fours and three sixes. He added 71 runs with Shoaib (37) for the fourth wicket and 69 with Humayun Altaf (33) for the fifth.

Opener Ali Hamza Waseem (27) and Uzair Mumtaz (23) were the other notable contributors for JDW, while Mohammad Naeem was NBP’s most successful bowler with three for 19.

At stumps, NBP opener Abubakar Khan, who scored 105 in the first innings, was batting on 67 from 102 balls with 12 fours, while Mohammad Wasim Khan was 36 not out from 63 balls with three fours and a six. The pair have added an unbroken 81 runs for the second wicket.
