JDW made a winning start to their President’s Trophy Grade-II Gold campaign when they defeated Haider Cricket Club by 10 wickets at the State Bank of Pakistan Sports Complex in Karachi on Sunday.

After posting 275 in their first innings, JDW dismissed Haider Cricket Club for 123 after they had resumed the second day at 39 for three.

Enforcing the follow-on with a 152-run first-innings lead, JDW bowled Haider Cricket Club out for 202 before achieving the 51-run target without losing a wicket.

Former Pakistan wrist-spinner Usman Qadir starred with the ball, claiming eight wickets in the match. He returned figures of five for 40 in the first innings before adding three for 84 in the second.

Aftab Ibrahim provided good support with two wickets in each innings, while Uzair Mumtaz claimed three for 15 in Haider Cricket Club’s second innings.

For Haider Cricket Club, Imran Khan top-scored with 41 in the first innings, while Asfandar also made 41 in the second.

JDW knocked off the target in just 7.1 overs, with Zain Abbas unbeaten on 29 and Sahibzada Abdullah 24 not out, to complete an emphatic 10-wicket victory inside two days.

JDW will face Kingsmen in their second match at the SBP Sports Complex from September 23.
