Hyderabad-born Mohammad Suleman made a stunning National Champions Cup debut when he stroked his maiden List-A century that helped Shadab Khan-led Pakistan Greens rout Sahibzada Farhan-captained Pakistan Blues by 192 runs in Multan on Saturday.

The 27-year-old finished at 101 not out from 103 balls with eight fours and a six as Pakistan Greens posted 302 for six after electing to bat first. Pakistan Blues, in their run-chase, succumbed to 110 all-out in 23.5 overs with fast bowlers Faheem Ashraf, Salman Mirza and Mohammad Hasnain sharing seven wickets between them.

The victory gave Pakistan Greens their third successive victory and a place in Tuesday’s final. Regarding Pakistan Blues, they will hope that Pakistan Gold beats Pakistan Whites by a massive margin, which will put them as the opponent of Pakistan Greens in the final. Presently, Pakistan Whites and Pakistan Blues are on equal points, but Whites have a game against a winless Gold in hand. Furthermore, Whites have a net run-rate of -0.002 as compared to Blues’ -1.093.

After walking in at the fall of Sameer Minhas (17) and Omair Bin Yousuf (33), with the score on 65 for two, Suleman added 135 runs in 20.1 overs for the third wicket with Saad Baig. Saad, one of the most prolific and consistent performers with the bat and gloves, scored 77 off 73 balls with five fours and three sixes.

Suleman then stitched a 90-run fourth wicket partnership in 13 overs with former Pakistan U19 captain Farhan Yousaf. Farhan scored a 41-ball 51 with four fours and two sixes.

Suleman’s first 50 came off 52 balls with six fours, while the next 50 was scored from 51 balls and contained two fours and a six. He had completed his century on the first ball of the 50th over.

For Pakistan Blues, Hasan Ali took two wickets, while Mohammad Faiq, Arafat Minhas, Ahmed Daniyal and Sufyan Moqim picked up one wicket each.

Pakistan Blues’ run-chase never got going after they slipped to 54 for four in the PowerPlay before being dismissed for 110 in 23.5 overs.

Faheem Ashraf removed Sahibzada Farhan (19) and Mohammad Faiq (18) after Maaz Sadaqat (1) was run-out, before Salman Mirza and Mohammad Hasnain took control of the proceedings.

Faheem finished with three wickets for 14 runs, while Salman and Hasnain picked up two wickets apiece, conceding 23 and 24 runs, respectively. Shadab Khan and Mehran Mumtaz took one wicket each.

Arafat Minhas was Blues’ top-scorer with 38 off 40 balls with three fours and two sixes, while Tayyab Tahir (14) and Mohammad Salman (10) were the other batters to cross double-figures.
