Fast bowler Abdul Subhan took two wickets as England U19 reached 264 for five on a weather-affected opening day of the one-off five-day Youth Test against Pakistan U19 at Arundel on Wednesday.

Subhan struck in the opening over of the match and then claimed his second wicket in the penultimate over of the day to finish with two for 64 from 13 overs, as only 56.4 overs were possible.

Play was brought to an early close when Ahmed Hussain dismissed Jack Nelson, who was out for a five-ball duck.

Opener Bertie Michael will resume on Thursday morning on 98 not out, having faced 171 balls and struck 17 fours.

After England U19 slipped to 46 for two, Michael added 152 runs with captain Ralphie Albert, who scored a fluent 88 from 93 balls, including 19 fours.

Wicketkeeper Joe Moores then joined Michael in a 65-run fourth-wicket partnership, contributing 41 from 38 balls with five fours and two sixes.

Apart from Subhan and Hussain, Mohammad Sayyam and Mohammad Huzaifa took one wicket each.
