Sngpl, Krl And Ptv Join Unbeaten Ogdcl In President’s Semi-finals; Centuries By Maaz, Shahzaib, Shan, Suleman; All-round Show By Kashif

LAHORE: SNGPL, KRL and PTV carved out crucial victories to join OGDCL in the semi-finals of the President’s One-Day Tournament following the completion of 28 round matches in Karachi on Saturday. In the first semi-final on Monday, OGDCL will meet PTV, while Tuesday’s semi-final will see KRL go head-to-head with SNGPL. Both matches will be played at the National Bank Stadium.

After seven matches each, OGDCL topped the points table with seven wins, followed by KRL, SNGPL and PTV with four wins each. Sahir Associates and Ghani Glass won two matches each, while SBP and WAPDA managed to win two and one match, respectively.

Shan Masood stroked an unbeaten 105 to guide SNGPL to a convincing seven-wicket victory over Sahir Associates, Shahzaib Khan scored 134 not out to set the stage for KRL’s 178-run victory over WAPDA, and Mohammad Suleman struck an unbeaten 113 to lay PTV’s foundation for a 47-run win over defending champions State Bank of Pakistan.

OGDCL finished their league matches with a cent percent win record when they handed a 10-wicket drubbing to Ghani Glass at the KCCA Stadium. Opener Maaz Sadaqat was in a punishing mood, scoring 107 not out from 70 balls with 15 fours and three sixes, while Imam-ul-Haq remained unbeaten on 73.

Earlier, OGDCL’s Mohammad Amir Khan took four for 26 as Ghani Glass were bowled out for 181 in 42.5 overs. Other wicket-takers included Haroon Arshad and Adil Amin, while Ghani Glass’s main run-scorers were Tayyab Tahir (36), Zafar Gohar (34), Hussain Talat (33) and Sharjeel Khan (28).

At the UBL Sports Complex, PTV outsmarted a star-studded State Bank of Pakistan by 47 runs. PTV batted first and recovered from 40 for four to post 277 for nine, thanks to an excellent 113 not out by Mohammad Suleman, who faced 109 balls and hit nine fours and five sixes. He added 119 for the fifth wicket with Mohammad Taha (51), while Jahandad Khan chipped in with 41.

Kashif Bhatti was the pick of the SBP bowlers, returning figures of 10-3-31-4, while Shahid Aziz took three for 47.

In reply, SBP slipped from 112 for one to 143 for six before being dismissed for 230 in 40.4 overs. Hasan Raza top-scored with 50, while Kashif Bhatti produced an all-round performance with 44. Mohammad Huraira (33), Rameez Aziz (33) and Saud Shakeel (30) were the other notable contributors.

For PTV, Mohammad Mohsin finished as the pick of the bowlers with four for 34, while Jahandad Khan followed up his 41 with two for 46.

At the Naya Nazimabad Cricket Ground, Shahzaib Khan scored 134 not out and put on 86 for the first wicket with Saad Baig (52) to help KRL post 305 for five. Shahzaib’s 143-ball innings included seven fours and seven sixes, while Saad struck eight fours and a six in a 46-ball knock. Iftikhar Ahmed (42), Ahmad Bashir (21) and Hamza Nazar (20) made useful contributions later.

In turn, Sufyan Muqeem returned figures of 5.4-1-14-4 and Hamza Nazar registered figures of 10-0-41-4 to send WAPDA packing for 127 in 30.4 overs. Only Mohammad Naeem offered resistance with 41.

Under the National Bank Stadium lights, Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood scored an unbeaten 105 against Sahir Associates to help SNGPL chase down the 218-run target in 35 overs with seven wickets to spare. Shan faced 104 balls and struck eight fours. He added 145 for the third wicket with Saad Khan, who was unlucky to miss his century by nine runs, scoring 91 off 67 balls with 13 fours.

Earlier, Sahir Associates were bowled out for 217 in 48.2 overs, with Mohammad Faiq top-scoring with 54 and Mohammad Kashif making 44 not out. For SNGPL, Mohammad Shahzad and Mohammad Salman took three wickets apiece, conceding 38 and 49 runs respectively, while Shahnawaz Dahani took two for 38.
