Mohammad Shahzad created Pakistan first-class cricket history when he smashed a 49-ball century for PTV against Kingsmen Academy on the opening day of the third round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I. A total of 21 wickets fell across the four matches on Thursday.

Shahzad’s 49-ball hundred eclipsed Misbah-ul-Haq’s famous 56-ball century against Australia in the 2014 Abu Dhabi Test as the fastest by a Pakistan batter in first-class cricket.

At the Diamond Cricket Ground, Shahzad eventually hammered 114 from just 62 balls, striking 12 fours and eight sixes, as PTV reached 285 for seven in 58 overs after being sent in to bat by Kingsmen Academy.

PTV had been in trouble at 34 for three before Shahzad launched a spectacular counterattack and added 143 runs for the fourth wicket with Sharoon Siraj. Sharoon was unbeaten on 53 from 85 balls with eight fours and two sixes when bad light brought an early end to the day’s play.

For Kingsmen Academy, Mohammad Ilyas returned the day’s best bowling figures of three for 95, while Shoaib Afridi claimed two for 74.

At Islamabad’s National Ground, Ghani Glass reached 263 for six in 72 overs against State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). Opener Mirza Tahir Baig scored 67, Ali Razzaq was unbeaten on 62 and Sharjeel Khan contributed 56. For SBP, Shahid Aziz claimed two wickets for 46 runs.

At the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, KRL reached 202 for five in 60 overs against OGDCL after electing to bat first. Sarmad Bhatti was unbeaten on 48, while Abdul Faseeh scored 36. OGDCL fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain took two wickets for 35 runs, while Razaullah and Mohammad Salman picked up one wicket apiece.

At the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar, Atiq-ur-Rehman struck an unbeaten 136 to rescue MIT Solutions and guide them to 258 for three after they were sent in to bat by SNGPL. Atiq’s 197-ball innings included 17 fours.

MIT Solutions had slipped to 40 for three before Atiq and Syed Awad Naqvi produced an unbroken 218-run fourth-wicket partnership. Naqvi was unbeaten on 65 from 225 balls with seven fours at stumps.

Naseem Shah and Mohammad Imran Randhawa claimed one wicket apiece, while Sajid Khan went wicketless from 21 overs.
