LAHORE: State Bank of Pakistan earned a consolation 210-run victory over WAPDA in the seventh and final round of the President’s Trophy four-day first-class competition at their ground on Thursday. The victory helped State Bank finish the event in third place, but the loss didn’t affect WAPDA’s position in the final against SNGPL starting on 8 February; WAPDA had sealed their spot on Wednesday following KRL’s innings loss to Ghani Glass.

Mohammad Ghazi Ghori and Kashif Bhatti were State Bank’s star performers on the fourth and final day of the league matches.

Ghazi, who resumed this morning at 85, finished unbeaten on 128 as State Bank declared their second innings at 373 for four. This was Ghazi’s third career century in 26 matches, coming off 114 balls with 14 fours and three sixes. Together with Kashif Ali (66), Ghazi added 106 runs for the fourth wicket, while an unfinished fifth-wicket stand with Rameez Aziz (30 not out) yielded 48 runs.

Set an improbable 356-run target, SBP’s Kashif Bhatti recorded figures of 15.3-4-72-5 and Qasim Akram collected three wickets for 41 runs as WAPDA were bundled out for 145. Only Nabi Gul (72 off 93 balls with 10 fours and three sixes) offered significant resistance.

SNGPL topped the points table after the completion of league matches with 137, while WAPDA ended with 120 points. They were followed by State Bank (104), KRL (99), Ghani Glass (93), PTV (89), Sahir Associates (HEC), (80), and OGDCL (65).
