LAHORE: Sardar Hasan Raza scored 174 and featured in a 245-run opening partnership with Faham-ul-Haq (74) to put Faisalabad on course for an innings victory over FATA in their fourth-round Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match at the Marghzar Cricket Ground.

Resuming the day at 59 in Faisalabad’s 127 for no loss in reply to FATA’s 191, Sardar was the second batter to be dismissed with the total at 351 before Faisalabad were bowled out for 462 — a first-innings lead of 271. When play ended on the second day, FATA were 10 for two, still needing 261 to make Faisalabad bat again.

Sardar, who had scored 172 against Karachi in the opener, struck 25 fours and two sixes from 247 balls. It was the 30-year-old’s sixth career century in his 57th first-class match.

Faham, who began the day on 40, hit 10 fours in a 151-ball 74, while No.3 batter Asim Ali Nasir scored 67 off 83 balls with 11 fours, and No.4 batter Atiqur Rehman added 48.

Faisalabad, who were 394 for two, lost their last eight wickets for 68 runs — thanks to Akif Javed (four for 70) and Arshadullah (four for 103).

BAHAWALPUR V MULTAN

Saifullah Bangash scored an impressive unbeaten century as Bahawalpur, resuming on the second day at 275 for six at the Diamond Cricket Ground, posted a colossal 501. At stumps, Multan were 111 for one.

Bangash, starting the day on 25, finished 119 not out off 210 balls with 18 fours. All-rounder Imran Randhawa contributed 75 from 88 balls with eight fours and four sixes as the two added 124 runs for the seventh wicket.

For Multan, Kashif Ali bagged four wickets for 102 runs, while Mohammad Ismail and Ali Usman picked up three wickets each, conceding 128 and 138 runs respectively.

KARACHI V LAHORE

Lahore made a strong response to Karachi’s 424 by reaching 215 for two at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium. Karachi had resumed their first innings at 326 for five and added another 98 runs on Saturday morning.

Ramiz Aziz, who began on 77, was dismissed after scoring 102 — an innings that included 10 fours and a six from 170 balls. Mohammad Usman Rahim, resuming on 17 not out, scored 52.

For Lahore, Ubaid Shah captured four wickets for 102, while Haseebur Rehman finished with four for 100.

When play ended, openers Ali Zaryab Asif (76 not out) and Hussain Talat (15 not out) were at the crease after Umar Siddique had made a breezy 86 from 99 balls with 15 fours. Test opener Abid Ali was dismissed for 22.

PESHAWAR V ABBOTTABAD

Peshawar were on target for their third successive victory after declaring at 448 for nine and then reducing Abbottabad to 159 for six at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium.

Resuming at 346 for five, last year’s finalists added another 102 runs, with Mohammad Haris scoring 35, Niaz Khan 28, and Khalid Shah 25.

For Abbottabad, Aqib Khan finished with three for 86, while Israr Hussain and Shahnawaz Dahani took two wickets each.

In reply, Abbottabad were rocked by fast bowler Niaz Khan, who claimed three of the six wickets as the visitors closed on 159 for six — still 289 runs behind with five wickets in hand.

Abbottabad’s Zain Ishaq was the standout batter with 60 (three fours, one six, 155 balls), while Ahmed Khan and Mohammad Bilal contributed 38 and 27 respectively.

SIALKOT V ISLAMABAD

Azan Awais registered his seventh first-class century in 19 matches as Sialkot took firm control against Islamabad at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium.

On a day when 15 wickets fell, Sialkot, resuming on 365 for eight, were bowled out for 407. In reply, Islamabad were skittled for 186. Leading by 221 on the first innings, Sialkot reached 50 for three in their second innings by stumps.

Azan, who resumed on 99, was dismissed for 134 off 185 balls with 17 fours and two sixes.

For Islamabad, Sarmad Bhatti top-scored with 82 off 120 balls with 13 fours, while Haris Rauf (28) and Jawad Ali (20) helped avert complete collapse after they had slumped to 109 for seven.

For Sialkot, Athar Mahmood returned figures of 12-0-43-5, while Mehran Mumtaz took three for 28.
