LAHORE: Centuries by Israrullah and Maaz Sadaqat gave hosts Peshawar a flying start in their fourth-round Quaid-e-Azam Trophy fixture against Abbottabad at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Israrullah scored 117 and Maaz hit 114 as the two batters added 213 runs for the third wicket to help Peshawar reach 346 for five at stumps after being sent in to bat. Israrullah struck 12 fours in his 210-ball innings, while Maaz’s 140-ball knock included 11 fours and a six.

For Abbottabad, Israr Hussain and Aqib Khan took two wickets apiece.

SIALKOT v ISLAMABAD

Azan Awais was one run away from his seventh career century as even contributions from Sialkot’s top-order helped the visitors reach 365 for eight against Islamabad at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium.

Azan, who retired hurt in the 22nd over but returned after the fall of the fifth wicket in the 67th over, was unbeaten on 99 in his 19th first-class match, having struck 10 fours and three sixes.

There were useful contributions from other Sialkot batters, including Ashir Mahmood (73), Mohammad Waleed (59), Ayaz Tasawar (33), Mohsin Riaz (27), Afzal Manzoor (24) and Mohammad Huraira (21). The highest partnership of the innings so far was for the second wicket, when Azan and Ashir added 107 runs.

For Islamabad, who elected to bowl first, Hammad Khan (2-27), Haris Rauf (2-82) and Jawad Ali (2-105) shared the wickets.

KARACHI v LAHORE

Half-centuries by Ramiz Aziz, Omair Bin Yousuf and Danish Aziz helped Karachi make a strong start against traditional rivals Lahore at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium. At stumps, Karachi, who were put into bat, had reached 326 for five with Ramiz Aziz unbeaten on a fluent 77 that included eight fours.

Omair Bin Yousuf and Danish Aziz were the other batters to reach the 50-run mark. Omair made 73 off 131 balls with nine fours, while Danish scored 51 from 59 deliveries with eight boundaries.

There were three valuable partnerships in Karachi’s innings. For the third wicket, Omair and Haroon Arshad (38) added 75 runs, while Ramiz and Danish put on 101 for the fourth wicket. The unbroken sixth-wicket stand between Ramiz and Usman Raheem (17 not out) has so far produced 37 runs.

For Lahore, Haseebur Rehman took two wickets for 76 runs.

BAHAWALPUR v MULTAN

Saad Khan continued his rich vein of form with another useful half-century as Bahawalpur reached 276 for five against Multan. Saad scored 74 from 116 balls with 10 fours and added 74 runs for the third wicket with Mohammad Ammar, who made 71 off 150 balls with 12 fours.

At stumps, Mohammad Shahriyar was batting on 50 (6×4, 102b) and Saifullah Bangash was 25 not out. The two have added 52 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket.

For Multan, who elected to bowl first, Kashif Ali and Mohammad Ismail took two wickets each, conceding 69 and 82 runs respectively.

FATA v FAISALABAD

Jahandad Khan and Afaq Afridi shared six wickets between them, while Asad Raza picked up two to justify their captain’s decision to bowl first as Faisalabad dismissed FATA for 191 in 52.2 overs.

Jahandad claimed three for 26, Afaq took three for 56, and Asad bagged two for 49 as only Rehan Afridi (56), M. Sarwar (41) and Haseebullah (24) offered resistance.

Faisalabad openers Sardar Hasan Raza and Faham-ul-Haq continued the good work of their bowlers, reaching 127 without loss. Sardar was batting on 59, while Faham was 40 not out.
