A career-best 181 by Salman Khan Junior powered MIT Solutions to a mammoth 660, while Rameez Aziz and Mohammad Taha also struck centuries on an action-packed second day of the President’s Trophy Grade-I on Saturday.

At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, MIT Solutions converted their overnight 476 for four into 660 all out in 126.1 overs before leaving Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) struggling at 140 for three.

The 25-year-old Salman, who resumed on 106, went on to score 181 — his career-best knock in 19 first-class matches. He batted for 422 minutes, facing 296 balls and striking 20 fours and two sixes. No.8 batter Samana Riaz (50) and No.10 Mohammad Ismail (29) provided valuable support.

For KRL, Ahmed Bashir was the pick of the bowlers with five for 100, while Iftikhar Ahmed and Hamza Sohail claimed two wickets apiece.

At stumps, KRL were 140 for three, with Shahzaib Khan unbeaten on 60 and Iftikhar Ahmed on 24. Fakhar Zaman (1) and Mohammad Faiq (47) were among the batters dismissed.

At the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, a 181-run ninth-wicket partnership between Rameez Aziz and Naqeebullah helped State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) post 433 against Pakistan Television (PTV).

SBP resumed at 278 for eight and added another 155 runs before being dismissed in 95.1 overs. Rameez, who started the day on 42, was the ninth batter dismissed after scoring 120 from 160 balls, including 17 fours and two sixes. No.10 Naqeebullah struck 74 from 72 balls with 10 fours and four sixes.

For PTV, all-rounder Amad Butt took four for 101, while Musa Khan claimed three for 79 and Haris Rauf two for 88.

PTV responded strongly through Mohammad Taha, whose unbeaten century carried them to 268 for three at stumps. Taha was 103 not out from 177 balls with 12 fours and shared a 131-run second-wicket partnership with Yasir Khan, who was unbeaten on 73 from 93 balls with eight fours and three sixes.

At the Diamond Cricket Ground, Ghani Glass took a commanding 257-run first-innings lead against Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).

After dismissing SNGPL for 152 on the opening day, Ghani Glass resumed at 192 for two and were eventually bowled out for 409. Rameez Junior (76), Mohsin Riaz (51) and Haseebullah (42) were their leading contributors on the second day, while Shahnawaz Dahani was SNGPL’s most successful bowler with three for 103.

SNGPL reached 106 for two at stumps and still trailed by 151 runs with eight wickets remaining. Sameer Minhas was unbeaten on 67 and will resume the second innings on Sunday.

Pakistan opener Azan Awais endured a difficult match with the bat, scoring five in the first innings and two in the second.

 

At the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) secured an 83-run first-innings lead over Kingsmen Academy, who closed the second day at 35 without loss.

After dismissing Kingsmen Academy for 215, OGDCL resumed at 57 for three and were bowled out for 298, with captain Rohail Nazir and Danish Aziz adding 66 for the sixth wicket.

Rohail scored 81 from 126 balls with 10 fours and a six, while Danish fell seven runs short of a fifth first-class century, finishing unbeaten on 93. His 168-ball innings included five fours and three sixes.

For Kingsmen Academy, Mohammad Ilyas was the most successful bowler with four for 57, while Mehran Mumtaz and Salman Ali Agha claimed two wickets apiece.

Openers Mohammad Irshad (19) and Mohammad Huraira (15) will resume Kingsmen Academy’s second innings on Sunday, with their side still requiring 48 runs to wipe out the first-innings deficit.
