PTV, KRL Hold Opponents To Draws in President’s Trophy

Pakistan Television (PTV) and Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) produced determined batting performances to hold Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Kingsmen Academy to draws, respectively, on the fourth and final day of the fourth-round President’s Trophy matches on Saturday.

At the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, PTV resumed their second innings at 227 for four after being forced to follow on and declared at 400 for seven. SNGPL, who had secured a 194-run first-innings lead, were then set 207 for victory and finished at 86 for three when the match ended.

PTV’s Mohammad Taha, who resumed on 142, was dismissed for 166 from 292 balls with 18 fours and a six. Sharoon Siraj was the other notable run-scorer with 67 from 155 balls with four fours, while Haris Rauf (35 not out) and Mohammad Shahzad (22) also made useful contributions.

For SNGPL, Ather Mehmood took three wickets for 106 runs, while Shahnawaz Dahani claimed two for 72.

In their chase, Azan Awais scored 34 and Sameer Minhas remained unbeaten on 32 as SNGPL reached 86 for three in 23 overs.

At the National Ground, Kingsmen Academy declared their second innings at their overnight 167 for three, setting KRL an imposing 467-run target. KRL responded strongly and reached 236 for four in 76 overs when the match ended.

KRL captain Iftikhar Ahmed led from the front with an unbeaten 104, his 18th first-class century, while opener Shahzaib Khan scored 74. The pair added 131 runs for the third wicket after KRL had lost Asim Ali Nasir (11) and Mohammad Faiq (36).

Iftikhar batted positively, facing 109 balls and striking 11 fours and five sixes. Shahzaib provided the resistance at the other end, facing 206 balls and hitting 13 fours.

After four of the seven rounds, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) lead the points table with 72 points, followed by Ghani Glass (66), Kingsmen Academy (56), OGDCL (45), KRL (42), PTV (36) and SNGPL (35).

The fifth-round matches will begin on 6 October.
