Pakistan’s Emerging Talents Set to Face Zimbabwe
After beating Australia in an ODI series in their home ground, Pakistan is ready to play their next series against Zimbabwe with a revamped squad starting November 24 at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo.
The two sides are scheduled to play a 3-match ODI series and a 3-match T20I series.
Led by Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan fields an inexperienced but promising squad.
Openers Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique will look to provide solid starts and hope to continue the success they got in Australia, while Kamran Ghulam steps in at No. 3 in place of Babar Azam who has been rested. Rizwan anchors the middle order, with Haris Rauf spearheading a pace attack supported by Mohammad Hasnain and Shahnawaz Dahani. Mystery spinner Faisal Akram may also debut. Pakistan’s star pace duo Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah have also been rested for the Zimbabwe tour.
Hosts Zimbabwe welcome back veteran Sean Williams, boosting a side that relies on Sikandar Raza’s match-winning capabilities. Skipper Craig Ervine and Brian Bennett will anchor their batting, while Blessing Muzarabani and Williams pose threats with the ball.
The Bulawayo pitch offers early assistance for fast bowlers, but conditions flatten out, favouring batters as the game progresses.
Pakistan’s interim white-ball coach Aaqib Javed joins the team for this series, which will be followed by three T20Is led by Salman Ali Agha.
