LAHORE: Bangladesh Women’s U19 levelled the five-match T20 series when they defeated Pakistan Women’s U19 by three wickets in the second match at Cox’s Bazar on Friday.

After failing to achieve the 89-run victory target in the first match and going down by 13 runs, Bangladesh did better in the second match when they reached the 81-run target for the loss of seven wickets in 19 overs.

Bangladesh wicketkeeper/opener Sumaiya Akter Suboma led the victory charge with a 38-ball 32, while Sadia Akter (13 not out) and Farjana Easmin (10) were the other batters to reach double-figures.

For Pakistan, Memoona Khalid and Aleesa Mukhtiar took two wickets apiece, conceding 13 and 22 runs, respectively and succeeded in reducing Bangladesh to 36 for four before the home side recovered to cross the finish line.

Earlier, Pakistan’s 80 for seven in 20 overs after electing to bat first revolved around wicketkeeper/batter Komal Khan, who scored 28 from 42 balls. She added 31 runs for the second wicket with Ravail Farhan (15) and 28 runs for the third wicket with Zoofishan Ayyaz (17).

However, Pakistan were unable to capitalise from these two partnerships and slipped from 66 for two to 80 for seven in the allotted overs.

Bangladesh’s Habiba Islam Pinky followed up her two for 22 in the previous match with four for 17 to be later adjudged player of the match.

The third match of the series will be played on Sunday.
