LAHORE: Pakistan Men’s U19 enter the Super Six stage of the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup 2026 on Tuesday, taking on New Zealand at the Harare Sports Club. Their second Super Six Group 2 match will take place on Sunday against traditional rivals India in Bulawayo.

Pakistan progressed from Group C with two wins and one defeat, carrying forward two points and a net run-rate of +0.629. India and England, the other two prominent sides in Group 2, have carried forward four points each with net run-rates of +2.75 and +1.55, respectively. Consequently, if Pakistan is to progress to the semifinals from this group, they must win both of their remaining matches against New Zealand and India.

Pakistan launched their campaign with a 37-run defeat against England before rebounding to beat Scotland by six wickets and Zimbabwe by eight wickets. In contrast, New Zealand’s Group B matches against the USA and Bangladesh ended in no-results, while they lost to India by seven wickets via the DLS method.

India, who topped Group B, defeated the USA by six wickets, Bangladesh by 18 runs (DLS), and New Zealand.

Across the three Group C matches, Sameer Minhas has emerged as the batter in form with 112 runs, including an unbeaten 74 against Zimbabwe. Usman Khan is the other Pakistani batter to cross the 100-run mark with 107 runs, while Farhan Yousuf and Ahmed Hussain have scored 83 runs each.

Among the bowlers, Ali Raza leads the pack with nine wickets, followed by Momin Qamar (7) and Abdul Subhan (6).

Unfavorable weather has hampered New Zealand’s campaign, resulting in their squad receiving minimal match time. However, their standout bowlers have been Flynn Morey and Mason Clarke, who have taken four wickets apiece.

For India, Abhigyan Abhishek Kundu has been the side’s most successful run-scorer with 122 runs, while 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has contributed 114 runs. Henil Patel, with nine wickets, is India’s most successful bowler, followed by RS Ambrish with five.

Pakistan remains the only country to win back-to-back ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cups, while India is the most successful side in the tournament’s history, having won five titles. New Zealand’s best performance remains a runner-up finish in 1998.
