Pakistan Women’s U19 squared the five-match T20 series against South Africa Women’s U19 when they won the fourth T20 by six wickets in a last-over finish at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday.

Chasing a modest 110-run target in 20 overs, Pakistan reached 50 for four in 11.5 overs and then 100 for four in 18.2 overs. They eventually achieved the target with four balls and six wickets to spare.

Zoofishan Ayyaz and captain Fizza Fiaz put on 70 runs for the match-winning unfinished fifth wicket in 51 balls to keep the series alive. Zoofishan scored 44 not out from 49 balls with five fours and a six, while Fizza remained not out on 28 from 39 balls with four fours.

Openers Ravail Farhan (18) and Komal Khan (15) had earlier given their side a 34-run start in eight overs before Pakistan plunged to 43 for four in 10.5 overs – attempting to accelerate scoring and keep the required run-rate in check.

Earlier, South Africa won the toss and limped to 109 for eight, with Shreeya Subbiah scoring 30, Diedre van Rensburg 23 and Chris-Mari Bezuidenhout 23.

For Pakistan, Mahnoor Zeb picked up two wickets for 18 runs and Rozina Akram collected two wickets for 21 runs.

The series-decider will be played on Friday.
