Pakistan and India progressed to the semifinals of the men’s cricket event at the 20th Asian Games without a ball being bowled after their respective quarterfinals against Hong Kong, China, and Afghanistan were washed out due to heavy rain.

With Pakistan and India ranked higher than their respective opponents, both advanced to the last four.

Pakistan will face the winner of the Bangladesh-Malaysia quarterfinal, while India will meet the winner of Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Tuesday’s remaining two quarterfinals are also expected to be affected by rain. If no play is possible, higher-ranked Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will progress to the semifinals.

The weather forecast is more encouraging for Thursday’s semifinals and Saturday’s medal matches, with clear conditions currently expected.
