Pakistan’s bowling attack enjoyed a rigorous and productive workout on Monday, claiming eight West Indies Select wickets on the third day of their four-day non-first-class practice match at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

After declaring their first innings at the overnight score of 454 for four, Pakistan bowling unit ground through 84 overs across the day, restricting the West Indies Select XI to 268 for eight by stumps.

Fast bowler Mohammad Ali spearheaded the attack, emerging as the most successful bowler of the day with impressive figures of three for 36 from his 13 overs. He was well supported by all-rounder Aamir Jamal, who picked up two for 33 in 10 overs), and veteran seamer Mohammad Abbas, who kept things incredibly tight to finish with on for 24.

In the spin department, left-arm spinner Ali Usman shouldered the bulk of the workload. He bowled a marathon 22 overs, earning two crucial breakthroughs for 62 runs. Fast bowler Khurram Shahzad went wicketless but remained economical, conceding just 24 runs in his 12 overs.

For the West Indies Select, the resistance was led by Kavem Hodge (92) and opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul (51), who combined for a stubborn 148-run partnership for the second wicket.

While Pakistan’s bowlers successfully triggered a collapse to reduce the hosts to 212 for eight in the 64th over, they faced a familiar frustration late in the day. An unbeaten 56-run stand for the ninth wicket between Jyd Goolie (44 not out) and Jomel Warrican (24 not out) safely navigated the hosts to the close of play.
