Abdul Qadir scored a half-century and Ahmed Hussain produced an all-round performance as Pakistan Under-19 reached 257 for six against England Under-19’s 333 on the second day of the one-off five-day Youth Test in Arundel on Thursday.

Qadir scored 66 from 54 balls, with 10 fours and two sixes, while Ahmed Hussain followed up his two for 20 with 35 from 66 balls, including four fours.

Five other Pakistan batters reached the 20s but were unable to convert their starts into bigger scores. Openers Usman Khan and Aliyan Salman scored 28 apiece, while lower-order batters Hamza Zahoor and Hasnain Abbas Dar made 26 each. Captain Farhan Yousaf contributed 21.

Hasnain Abbas Dar and Mohammad Sayyam, who is on 11, will resume their innings on Friday as Pakistan trail England by 76 runs on first innings.

Earlier, England added 69 runs to their overnight score before being bowled out for 333 in 87.1 overs. Opener Bertie Michael, who was unbeaten on 98 overnight, was the ninth batter dismissed after scoring 131 — an innings that came off 235 balls and included 21 fours. Ahmed Hussain dismissed him.

Rizwanullah was the pick of the Pakistan bowlers, claiming three wickets for 63 runs, while Mohammad Sayyam and Abdul Subhan took two wickets each. Mohammad Huzaifa claimed one wicket.
