Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) defeated Kingsmen Academy by nine wickets, while the other two second-round matches in the President’s Trophy Grade-I ended in draws on Monday.

OGDCL, needing 121 for outright victory at the Imran Khan Stadium in Peshawar, resumed at 85 for one and knocked off the remaining 36 runs without further loss. Waqar Ahmed finished unbeaten on 75 from 94 balls with six fours and a six, while Umar Siddiq remained 40 not out from 74 balls with seven fours.

At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, KRL, replying to MIT Solutions’ imposing 660, were bowled out for 490 after resuming at 423 for five.

Faheem Ashraf, who started the day on 28, was dismissed for 69 from 135 balls with 10 fours. For MIT Solutions, Mohammad Nabeel was the pick of the bowlers with three for 77, while Ali Asfand and Mohammad Ismail claimed two wickets apiece.

MIT Solutions, who secured a 170-run first-innings lead, then slipped to 167 for nine before the match ended in a draw. Opener Hasnain Nadeem top-scored with 62 from 103 balls with eight fours, while KRL captain Iftikhar Ahmed produced the standout bowling performance with figures of five for 18 from eight overs.

At the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, PTV and SBP played out an entertaining draw.

SBP resumed their second innings at 84 for four, leading by 48 runs, and declared at 328 for eight after a lower-order rearguard.

No.7 batter Abid Ali scored 67, No.8 Kashif Bhatti made 64 and No.9 Sirajuddin contributed an unbeaten 29. After slipping to 105 for five, SBP’s lower order added 223 runs for the final three wickets to take the game away from PTV.

Set an improbable 293 for victory, PTV closed at 64 for one when the match ended in a draw.

The third-round matches will begin on September 24.
