National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) defeated JDW by 117 runs on the third and final day of their President’s Trophy Grade-II Gold match at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi on Tuesday.

Resuming their second innings at 122 for one, NBP were bowled out for 233, setting JDW a target of 249. JDW attempted to chase down the target but were dismissed for 131 in 44 overs.

Abubakar Khan, who scored 105 in the first innings, followed up with 70, while Mohammad Wasim Khan contributed 60 and Mohammad Naeem 33.

For JDW, fast bowler Aftab Ibrahim claimed four for 68 to finish with seven wickets in the match, while Mohammad Fahad took four for 76.

Having conceded a 15-run first-innings lead, JDW adopted a positive approach in pursuit of an unlikely victory but lost wickets regularly.

Usman Qadir top-scored with 43, while Ali Hamza contributed 29, but the remaining batters were unable to build the partnerships required to sustain the chase.

Najeebullah was NBP’s most successful bowler with four for 37, while Mohammad Tariq claimed three for 24 and Umar Zaib three for 41.
