LAHORE: Invincibles extended their unbeaten run to four matches by defeating Conquerors by 30 runs, while Strikers handed Challengers a five-run defeat in the National Women’s T20 on Friday.

Invincibles successfully defended 165 for five, restricting Conquerors to 135 for eight, while Strikers scored 150 for seven and then limited Challengers to 145 for six.

At the Bagh-e-Jinnah, opener Muneeba Ali scored 59 off 47 balls with nine fours to help Invincibles post 165 for six after electing to bat first. Muneeba added 52 for the first wicket with Gull Feroza (17) and 46 for the second wicket with Maham Anees (25). Iram Javed continued the good work with a 23-ball 43 not out, hitting five fours and two sixes.

Conquerors, after slipping to 30 for three, recovered to finish at 135 for eight on the back of a 48-ball 57 by opener Samiya Asfar, who hit four fours and two sixes. She added 72 runs for the fourth wicket with Hafsa Khalid, who scored 38 off 28 balls with six fours.

For Invincibles, Amber Kainat was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-0-20-4, while Saima Malik and Mahnoor Zaib took two wickets each, conceding 16 and 22 runs respectively.

At the Ghani Glass Cricket Ground, Tasmia Rubab recorded figures of 4-0-26-3 to help Strikers beat Challengers by five runs, despite good batting from opener Eman Naseer (42, 43b, 5×4) and Eyman Fatima (38, 31b, 5×4, 1×6), who added 41 for the third wicket.

Challengers were well placed at 130 for three before losing their way and finishing at 145, falling five runs short of Strikers’ 150 for seven.

The Strikers’ total revolved around Dua Majid (38), Aliya Riaz (32), Sadaf Shamas (25) and Umm-e-Hani (25).

For Challengers, Tania Saeed (two for 21) and Diana Baig (two for 24) shared the wickets.

Sunday’s matches will see Invincibles take on Challengers at the Ghani Glass Cricket Ground and Conquerors meet Stars at the Bagh-e-Jinnah.
