LAHORE: Half-centuries by Muneeba Ali and Sidra Amin, and an all-round display by Tuba Hasan were the highlights of two matches decided in the National Women’s T20 at the Ghani Glass Cricket Ground on Monday.

Muneeba scored 90 to help Invincibles overhaul Strikers’ 161 for seven with four wickets and nine balls to spare, while Sidra scored 75 and Tuba Hasan took two for 25 and scored 35 not out to script Stars’ six-wicket victory over Challengers with three overs remaining.

In the morning match, Strikers collected 161 for seven after electing to bat first. After Sadaf Shamas (33, 26b, 3×4, 2×6) and Dua Majid (30, 21b, 6×4) put on 60 for the first wicket, Aliya Riaz (47, 28b, 6×4, 1×6) and Saira Jabeen (21, 17b, 2×4) added 69 for the fourth wicket to lift their side to a competitive total.

For Invincibles, Momina Riasat maintained her fine form to take three for 20, moving to the top of the bowling charts with 11 wickets in six matches. Saima Malik took two for 18.

In reply, Muneeba Ali led Invincibles’ run-chase, scoring 90 off 55 balls with 11 fours as they cantered to victory for the loss of four wickets in 18.3 overs. She featured in two key partnerships — 60 for the first wicket with Gull Feroza (23, 19b, 3×4) and 94 for the third wicket with Iram Javed (34*, 29b, 2×4, 1×6).

In the afternoon match, Challengers scored 156 all out in 20 overs after electing to bat first. Natalia Pervaiz top-scored with a 37-ball 58 that included eight fours and a six, while Eyman Fatima scored 35 off 21 balls with six fours and a six. The pair added 55 for the fourth wicket after Challengers had slipped to 13 for three.

For Stars, Ayesha Rehman returned impressive figures of 3-0-10-3, while Tuba Hasan and Ayesha Bilal took two wickets each, conceding 25 and 28 runs respectively.

In reply, Sidra Amin scored 75 to guide Stars to 157 for four in 17 overs. Her 49-ball knock included nine fours and a six. After adding 77 for the fourth wicket with Huraina Sajjad (23), Sidra put on an unbroken 63 for the fifth wicket with Tuba Hasan, who followed up her two for 25 with 35 not out off 19 balls with three fours and two sixes.

Following Tuesday’s rest day, the tournament resumes on Wednesday with two matches.
