Match Preview: South Africa vs. Pakistan, 2nd Test
After a thrilling two-wicket win in the first Test at Pretoria, South Africa will head into the second and final Test against Pakistan with their sights set on extending their winning streak.
With six consecutive Test victories, South Africa is enjoying its best run since 2002-03 and is already assured of a place in this year’s World Test Championship final. However, Proteas have lost two of their last three Tests at the venue.
For Pakistan, it’s a matter of bouncing back and seizing key moments. Captain Shan Masood has called for his team to capitalize on advantages when they arise. Despite their promising starts in Pretoria, Pakistan failed to land the knockout blow, and that cost them dearly.
Historically, Pakistan has struggled in South Africa, managing only two wins in 16 Tests and none since 2007.
The Newlands wicket is expected to be better for batting than Pretoria’s tricky surface, but the pace and bounce will still favor seamers.
