Fast bowler Hassan Hafeez captured seven wickets as JDW bowled Kingsmen Academy out for 270 on the opening day of the President’s Trophy Grade-II Gold match at the SBP Sports Complex in Karachi on Wednesday.

Hassan returned impressive figures of 18.5-3-61-7, while fellow fast bowler Aftab Ibrahim took three for 62 as the Academy’s innings was wrapped up in 67.5 overs after being put into bat.

At stumps, JDW had reached 34 without loss in 11 overs. Zain Abbas (19) and Sahibzada Abdullah (14) will resume JDW’s response on Thursday.

For Kingsmen Academy, Rizwan Mehmood was the top scorer with 80 off 97 balls, including six fours and two sixes. After the Academy slipped from 105 for two to 132 for five, Rizwan added 110 runs for the sixth wicket with Afnan Khan (39).

From the top-order, opener Affan Ishaq scored 41, while Najab Khan added 40.
