Opener Zain Abbas scored his second half-century of the match as JDW held Kingsmen to a draw in the three-day President’s Trophy Grade-II Gold at the SBP Sports Complex in Karachi on Friday.

Zain followed up his first-innings 61 with 79 as JDW closed at 214 for four after being set a daunting 349-run target. He faced 162 balls and struck nine fours and a six.

Useful contributions from Usman Salahuddin (30), Uzair Mumtaz (27), Hasnain Majid (26 not out) and Humayun Altaf (21 not out) helped JDW safely negotiate the final day and remain unbeaten after two matches.

Earlier, Kingsmen, who had secured a 98-run first-innings lead, added 37 runs in five overs to their overnight 213 for three before declaring at 250 for four. Najab Khan finished on 69, while Rizwan Mehmood remained unbeaten on 63.

JDW lead Group B with nine points from two matches, while Kingsmen are second with six points and Haider Cricket Club third with three. National Bank and Eshaal Associates are yet to open their accounts.

The top two sides from the group will progress to the semi-finals.

JDW will face National Bank at the UBL Sports Complex in their third-round match from 27 September.
