Hamza’s 7-39 Earns Krl Win; Arham’s 141 In Vain; Abbas Bags 5-38 In Sbp’s Victory; Danish Saves The Day For OGDCL

LAHORE: Mohammad Hamza stole the honors on the final day of the fifth-round President’s Trophy action when he bowled KRL to a nine-wicket victory over defending champions PTV at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi on Saturday.

Hamza returned figures of 14-4-39-7 – the second time he has taken a seven-wicket haul in his 13-match career – as PTV were bundled out for 94 after starting the day at 27 for three. Arshad Iqbal grabbed the remaining three PTV wickets for 51 as only Arafat Minhas offered resistance, scoring 32.

KRL, who had secured a 20-run first-innings lead, achieved the victory target for the loss of one wicket in 17.1 overs, with Saad Baig scoring an unbeaten 40.

Khawaja Arham stroked his maiden first-class century, but his efforts were not enough to save Ghani Glass from a 10-wicket defeat at the hands of SNGPL at the National Bank Stadium.

Arham resumed the morning on 81 with Ghani Glass at 125 for one and was eventually dismissed for 141. His innings came off 160 balls and included 18 fours and three sixes. Together with Hammad Butt, who scored a 156-ball 77, Arham added 196 runs for the second wicket. However, after the partnership ended with the score at 202, the Ghani Glass innings collapsed like a house of cards, ending at 289.

For SNGPL, the wickets were shared between Mohammad Ali (three for 49), Sajid Khan (three for 76), Shahnawaz Dahani (two for 54), and Shehzad Gul (two for 74). SNGPL completed the victory by reaching 39 without loss.

At the State Bank Stadium, Test fast bowler Mohammad Abbas returned figures of five for 38, while Kashif Bhatti and Niaz Khan took two wickets apiece as State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) completed a nine-wicket victory over Sahir Associates.

Sahir Associates, trailing by 60 runs on the first innings, resumed their second innings at 44 for three and were bowled out for 122. Needing 63 runs for victory, SBP lost Hasan Raza early, but Mohammad Hurraira (25 not out) and Abdullah Fazal (24 not out) ensured their side collected maximum points.

At the KCCA Stadium, Danish Aziz stroked a match-saving unbeaten century for OGDCL to secure a draw against WAPDA. Danish followed up his 69 in the first innings with 101 not out from 232 balls with seven fours.

OGDCL, starting the day at 117 for six and just 69 runs ahead, declared their second innings at 267-8. Set a 210-run target, WAPDA were 88 for three when the captains shook hands.

WAPDA lead the table with 93 points, followed by KRL (91), SNGPL (91), PTV (77), Ghani Glass (59), SBP (57), OGDCL (54) and Sahir Associates (33).
