Pakistan fast bowlers Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali and Khurram Shahzad shared eight Professional County Club Selection (PCCS) XI wickets between them on the opening day of the three-day match at The County Ground Beckenham, on Thursday.

Abbas bagged three for 37 from 10 overs, Ali three for 23 from 10 overs and Khurram two for 55 from 10.5 overs as the home side was dismissed for 305 in 69.5 overs. Aamir Jamal (one for 32) and Ali Usman (one for 38) bagged the other two wickets.

When stumps were drawn for the opening day, Pakistan had reached 44 for no wicket from 13 overs. Azan Awais (15 not out, 49b, 3 x 4) and Imam-ul-Haq (26 not out, 29b, 4 x 4) will resume their innings on Friday.

Earlier, PCCS XI won the toss and elected to bat first. They reached 123 for three at lunch and 217 for seven at tea. 28-year-old Saif Ali Zaib was PCCS’s top-scorer with 65 (69b, 12 x 4) and put on 110 runs for the fourth wicket with Caleb Falconer, who contributed 59 from 89 balls with nine fours. Opener Tom Haines scored 51 (33b, 12 x 4).
