Ghani Glass inflicted an innings and 14 runs defeat on fancied SNGPL, while Mohammad Taha struck a career-best 225 for PTV and OGDCL closed in on victory over debutants Kingsmen Academy on the third day of the second round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I on Sunday.

SNGPL, who resumed at 106 for two and still trailed Ghani Glass by 151 runs, were bowled out for 243 in their second innings at the Diamond Cricket Ground. Opener Sameer Minhas missed out on a maiden first-class century by four runs when he was dismissed for a 115-ball 96 that included 13 fours.

Test fast bowler Khurram Shahzad followed up his four for 42 in the first innings with five for 74 to finish with match figures of nine for 116. Ali Shabbir claimed two for 52, while Ali Razzaq, Shoaib Akhtar Junior and Mohammad Rameez Junior took one wicket apiece.

SNGPL had been dismissed for 152 in their first innings before Ghani Glass replied with 409 to secure a commanding 257-run lead.

At the Imran Khan Stadium in Peshawar, OGDCL, set a 121-run target by Kingsmen Academy, reached 85 for one at stumps and require another 36 runs for victory with nine wickets intact.

Kingsmen Academy, who resumed at 35 without loss after conceding an 83-run first-innings lead, were dismissed for 203 in their second innings after losing their last five wickets for just four runs.

Mohammad Tayyab Arif top-scored with 56, while opener Mohammad Arshad contributed 41.

For OGDCL, Danish Aziz followed his unbeaten 93 with the bat by claiming four wickets for just seven runs, while Mohammad Salman took four for 48.

At the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, the PTV-SBP match was intriguingly poised after SBP, having conceded a 36-run first-innings lead, closed the third day at 84 for four — an overall lead of just 48 runs with six wickets remaining.

PTV, who resumed at 268 for three in reply to SBP’s 433, were bowled out for 469, with Mohammad Taha converting his overnight century into a career-best 225.

Taha, who began the day on 103, batted for 481 minutes, facing 362 balls and striking 22 fours and two sixes.

For SBP, Kashif Bhatti took four for 104, Sirajuddin claimed three for 92 and Naqeebullah finished with two for 70.

Pakistan wicketkeeper Ghazi Ghori (43 not out) and Rameez Aziz (three not out) will resume SBP’s second innings on Monday as they look to build a defendable fourth-innings target.

At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Imran Rafiq and Asim Ali Nasir struck centuries to keep KRL alive against MIT Solutions.

KRL, who began the day at 140 for three in reply to MIT Solutions’ imposing 660, reached 423 for five at stumps. Imran was dismissed for 122, while Asim remained unbeaten on 110.

Imran faced 192 balls and struck 19 fours, while Asim has so far faced 227 deliveries, hitting 11 fours and two sixes. The pair came together at 198 for four and added 159 for the fifth wicket.
