England vs. Pakistan T20I series: Preview

The four-match T20I series between Pakistan and England is set to kick off with a highly anticipated opener on Wednesday at Headingley Stadium in Leeds. Following the opener, the teams will clash in Birmingham on May 25, Cardiff on May 28, and conclude the series in London on May 30.

The series between the finalists of the 2022 T20 World Cup will be the last international T20 series before the 2024 T20 World Cup.

This T20I series holds significance as both teams prepare for the T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in June in the USA and West Indies. The matches will serve as a crucial platform for players to showcase their skills and attempt to fix the remaining loopholes before going into the World Cup.

The Pakistan team, led by Babar Azam, will have to face the English after recently beating Ireland with a 2-1 series victory.

The England team led by Jos Buttler, known for their aggressive style of play and depth in both batting and bowling, will look to leverage home advantage and bounce back from their recent performances. They haven’t won any of their series since winning the 2022 T20 World Cup, losing 0-3 to Bangladesh, drawing 2-2 against New Zealand, and losing 2-3 to the West Indies.

The series also offers Babar Azam the chance to make history by becoming the leading run-scorer in T20I cricket by scoring 83 runs in the series. Currently, he has 3,955 runs, placing him third on the leaderboard, with Virat Kohli at the top with 4,037 runs and Rohit Sharma in second with 3,974 runs.
