Babar Azam Appointed Captain
LAHORE: Babar Azam was named captain of the PSL Team of the Tournament 2026 after inspiring Peshawar Zalmi to their second title. Babar finished as the competition’s leading run-scorer with 588 runs at an average of 84 and a strike rate of 146.

The PSL 2026 Team of the Tournament includes three players each from Peshawar Zalmi and Hyderabad Kingsmen, two each from Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United, and one each from Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators.
The team was selected by a five-member panel drawn from the commentary team. In a welcome and positive initiative, the PCB also announced an Emerging Team of the Tournament — a meaningful step towards recognising and incentivising the young players who shone throughout the 38-day competition.
