LAHORE: Multan’s Ali Usman took five for 98 as Sialkot lost their last eight wickets for 100 runs to be bowled out for 288 on the opening day of the seventh-round Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match at the Marghzar Cricket Ground on Tuesday.

Azan Awais (81, 170b, 5×4, 2×6) and Mohammad Huraira (60, 64b, 11×4, 1×6) provided Sialkot a confident 113-run start before Azan and Mohsin Riaz (44, 102b, 8×4) took the score to 188 for two. At that stage, Sialkot suffered a stunning collapse as fast bowler Ali Usman finished with impressive figures of 34-7-98-5, while Ghulam Haider snapped up three for 94 to keep Sialkot inside 300.

In reply, Multan were 63 for two at stumps with Mehran Mumtaz picking up both wickets.

LAHORE v PESHAWAR

Lahore’s Test spinner Noman Ali took four for 78 as Peshawar were bowled out for 245 after being 121 for one at one stage at the Diamond Cricket Ground. Noman was well assisted by Qasim Akram (3-42) and Mohammad Rameez (3-30).

Peshawar’s Israrullah top-scored with 83 (120b, 9×4, 1×6) and featured in a 64-run opening stand with Mohammad Mohsin Khan (24), followed by a 47-run second-wicket partnership with Abbas Ali (32). However, Peshawar lost momentum thereafter to finish at 245.

In reply, Lahore were 30 for two at stumps, with Mohammad Amir Khan claiming both wickets for 18 runs.

KARACHI v ABBOTTABAD

Karachi’s experienced trio of Danish Aziz, Shan Masood, and Saud Shakeel helped their side post 258 before fast bowler Saqib Khan grabbed three wickets to leave Abbottabad reeling at 31 for three at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium.

Danish returned unbeaten on 89 from 152 balls with seven fours and two sixes, Shan contributed a 48-ball 43 with six fours, and Saud chipped in with a 67-ball 31 with three fours. Small but useful contributions from Rameez Aziz (23) and Mirza Saad Baig (21) allowed Karachi to reach 258 after being 129 for three.

For Abbottabad, Khalid Usman took three for 83, while Kamran Ghulam, Shahab Khan, and Mehrooz Rasheed claimed two wickets apiece.

When play ended, Abbottabad were struggling at 31 for three, with Saqib picking all three wickets.

FATA v BAHAWALPUR

Mohammad Salman scored a century and Khushdil Shah missed his fifth career century by five runs as the duo lifted FATA to 271 for five against Bahawalpur after stitching up a 156-run third-wicket partnership at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium.

Salman departed after scoring 114 – his third career century in 15 matches – from 109 balls with 11 fours, while Khushdil was dismissed for 95 from 109 balls with 12 fours and two sixes. Mohammad Sarwar Afridi was the other notable run-scorer with 45, adding 80 runs for the fourth wicket with Salman.

For Bahawalpur, Gulfam Aziz and Mohammad Imran Randhawa shared four wickets equally, conceding 31 and 32 runs respectively.

FAISALABAD v ISLAMABAD

Mohammad Awais Zafar scored his maiden century of the tournament and Faham-ul-Haq recorded his second as they helped Faisalabad finish the day at 322 for four against Islamabad at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.

Awais was batting on a solid 138 from 139 balls with 16 fours and five sixes, while opener Faham was dismissed after scoring 109 off 232 balls with 18 fours. The two added 188 runs for the fourth wicket after Faisalabad had slipped to 111 for three, having elected to bat first.

Islamabad’s Jawad Ali picked up two wickets, while Hunain Shah and Arsal Sheikh took one apiece.
