657 Runs Scored In 86.5 Overs In A President’s One-day Tournament Match After Moeez’s 47-ball Eight
LAHORE: Three centuries and 12 half-centuries were scored in the four matches of the third round of the President’s One-Day Tournament on Friday, which also saw defending champions State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) suffer their second defeat.
At the KCCA Stadium, SNGPL defeated SBP by three wickets in a last-ball finish.
Rameez Aziz scored 62, Mohammad Irfan Khan 57, Mohammad Huraira 54, and Imran Butt 45 to help SBP post 286 for eight. In turn, Haseebullah led SNGPL’s victory charge with an excellent 89, along with valuable support from Mohammad Awais Zafar (65), Azan Awais (59), and Kamran Ghulam (33) as they crossed the line on the last ball of the match.
At the UBL Sports Complex, PTV defeated WAPDA by six runs on the DLS Method.
WAPDA, chasing 273 for victory, were 235 for four when bad light ended the match. The highlights of the match were half-centuries by PTV’s Shamyl Hussain (58) and Yasir Khan (50), and WAPDA’s Mohammad Akhlaq (84) and Sharoon Siraj (59). PTV’s Jahandad Khan produced an all-round performance, scoring 29 not out and then claiming two wickets for 40 runs.
In a day/nighter at the Naya Nazimabad Ground, OGDCL pulled off a three-run victory over KRL.
Batting first, OGDCL posted 253 for eight with Mohammad Sarwar scoring 65, Maaz Sadaqat 50, and Haroon Arshad 37. In turn, Sarmad Bhatti (88) and Shayan Sheikh (26) put on 75 runs for the last wicket, but KRL still fell short by three runs when they were bowled out for 250 with two balls to spare. Maaz followed up his 50 with two for 42 to complete a good day in the office.
At the Oval Academy, Sahir Associates chased down a 328-run target for the loss of two wickets in 36.5 overs. In this match, a total of 657 runs were scored for the loss of nine wickets in 86.5 overs.
Batting first, Ghani Glass recovered from Moeez Ghani’s painstaking 47-ball eight to post 327 for seven, with Mohsin Riaz scoring a 104-ball 141 (eight fours and eight sixes) and Tayyab Tahir scoring a 58-ball 65. Sahir Associates’ Shahid Ali took three for 67.
In their turn at the wicket, Sahir Associates achieved the target in 36.5 overs for the loss of two wickets, with Usman Khan slapping 16 fours and eight sixes in a 98-ball 159 not out and Mohammad Faiq scoring 108 not out from 76 balls. The two batters put on an unbeaten 275-run third-wicket partnership to seal the win.
