LAHORE: FATA went on a run-scoring spree against Abbottabad, posting 450 for three on the first day of the sixth-round Quaid-e-Azam Trophy fixture at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Mohammad Salman, Khushdil Shah, and Mohammad Farooq punished Abbottabad after being put into bat, scoring quickfire centuries that gave FATA an early advantage in the match.

Salman was batting on 133 from 159 balls with 20 fours and two sixes, Khushdil struck 108 not out off 152 balls with 12 fours and two sixes, and Farooq’s 105 off 76 balls included 12 fours and six sixes.

Farooq’s opening partner Mohammad Usman also made full use of the favourable conditions, scoring 87 from 122 balls with 12 fours. The pair put on 169 runs for the first wicket, while Farooq added 45 runs for the second wicket with Salman.

After Farooq’s departure, Salman stitched a 204-run third-wicket partnership with Khushdil, who had added 42 runs for the unfinished fourth wicket with Mohammad Sarwar (22*).

SAAD BAIG’S THIRD CENTURY FOR KARACHI

Opener Mirza Saad Baig scored his third century of the tournament as Karachi finished the opening day against Peshawar at 323 for seven. Saad made 109 from 210 balls with 13 fours and two sixes.

Usman Khan and Saud Shakeel supported Saad after Karachi slipped to 63 for three. The three early dismissals were Haroon Arshad (0), Omair Bin Yousuf (15), and Shan Masood (0).

Saad and Usman Khan, who scored 84 from 95 balls with 13 fours and a six, put on 133 runs for the fourth wicket, before Saad added another 65 for the fifth wicket with Saud Shakeel, who was unbeaten on 63 from 128 balls with 10 fours.

For Peshawar, Sajid Khan, Mohammad Amir Khan, and Imran Khan Junior took two wickets each.

FAISALABAD’S AFAQ TAKES 5-63 VS LAHORE

Afaq Ahmed Afridi claimed 5-63 as 15 wickets fell at the Diamond Cricket Ground on Wednesday. After dismissing Lahore for 179, Faisalabad were in trouble at 69 for three, with Nisar Ahmed taking 3-12.

Apart from Afaq, Test fast bowler Khurram Shahzad and Asad Raza also bowled well, claiming three for 45 and two for 34, respectively.

Lahore’s Omaid Shahid was top-scorer with 43, while Qasim Akram and Umar Siddique made 31 and 27, respectively.

MAIDEN CENTURY FOR BAHAWALPUR’S SUDAIS

Thirty-one-year-old Mohammad Sudais, playing only his fifth first-class match, scored his maiden century as Bahawalpur reached 203 for two in a day where only 58 overs were possible at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium. The left-handed opener was dismissed after scoring 112 off 150 balls, including 15 fours and two sixes.

Together with Mohammad Ammar, who was unbeaten on 54, Sudais put on 154 runs for the second wicket. Saad Khan was 20* at the close of play.

ISLAMABAD V MULTAN

Islamabad, put into bat by Multan, were 272 for eight at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium after 72 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Rohail Nazir top-scored with 71 (122b, 10×4, 1×6), while Shamyl Hussain (39), Sarmad Bhatti (38), and Arsal Sheikh (37) also contributed.

For Multan, fast bowler Mohammad Ismail returned figures of 16-4-60-4, while Mohammad Shah and Ali Usman took two wickets each.
