about team
One thing is for certain, Afghanistan cricket is here to stay. Last month, they toured Bangladesh and convincingly won the ODI series – a feat many major teams have failed to achieve. Afghanistan are plausibly the dark horses of the tournament, specially in conditions that really suit them. Their spin bowling combination of Rashid Khan and Mujeeb ur Rehman is arguably the best in the world, and the blend of young batters at the top has provided them with some exciting cricket off late. In recent times, their pace battery has become a talking point too, courtesy largely of Fazalhaq Farooqi’s new ball prowess. The dynamic nature of Rahmanullah Gurbaz at the top gives them a certain x-factor, while Ibrahim Zadran’s elegance will light up the tournament too. With very little expectations on them, Afghanistan will look to pounce on any openings they get, and capitalize on their strengths.
