about team
Defending champions Sri Lanka will be full of confidence coming into the tournament, having recently won the ICC CWC Qualifiers. They are in top notch form, and will look to capitalize on their strengths. The spin bowling duo of Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana will be heavily relied on, as was the case in the qualifiers. The welcome return of Dimuth Karunaratne in the ODI side has provided them with lots of stability at the top, while the ever brilliant Pathum Nissanka continues to impress. Dhananjaya de Silva’s form off late has been noteworthy, and the Sri Lankans will hope that the allrounder can continue to impress. An underrated facet of their game has been Dasun Shanaka’s leadership in the field, albeit he has struggled with the bat. Anyhow, expect Dasun Shanaka and his boys to put up a real fight to defend their silverware.
