LAHORE: Pakistan Women defeated the UAE Women by nine wickets to qualify for the Asia Cup Rising Stars Women’s T20 tournament in Thailand on Tuesday.

Anosha Nasir took three for 18, Hafsa Khalid bagged two for four, and Gull Rukh, Omaima Sohail, Momina Riasat and Waheeda Akhtar picked up one wicket each as the UAE were dismissed for 79 in 17.2 overs.

Opener Theertha Satish (32) and Rinitha Rajith (14) put on 29 runs for the third wicket off 32 balls. But after Rinitha fell with the score at 53 in the ninth over, the remaining seven wickets fell for 26 runs.

Pakistan’s run-chase was led by an unbroken 56-run second-wicket stand off 35 balls between Shawaal Zulfiqar and Huraina Sajjad after Eman Naseer departed for a 16-ball 12. Shawaal remained 38 not out off 31 balls with five fours and a six, while Huraina scored 29 not out off 19 balls with five fours.

Pakistan finished second in Group A, behind India, and will play on 20 February against the table-toppers of Group B, which will either be Bangladesh or Sri Lanka. Bangladesh have won both their matches and will play Malaysia in their last league match, while Sri Lanka have won one and lost one, with their final league match against Thailand.
