Imam’s Unbeaten 129 Gives Ogdcl Fifth Successive Win; Faham Produces Excellent All-round Performance

LAHORE: Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq scored an unbeaten century to hand OGDCL their fifth successive victory in the President’s One-Day Tournament as they defeated SNGPL by five wickets in a day-night fixture at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Tuesday.

Imam remained not out on 129 off 118 balls, hitting 13 fours and two sixes, as OGDCL chased down the 244-run target for the loss of five wickets in 46.3 overs. Imam added 115 runs for the fifth wicket with Danish Aziz after OGDCL had slipped to 109 for four.

Earlier, SNGPL, who suffered their second defeat but remained second on the points table in the eight-team tournament, scored 243 for nine, with Mohammad Shahzad making 65 and Kamran Ghulam (49), Saad Khan (33) and Awais Zafar (29) contributing useful runs.

For OGDCL, Amir Khan and Mushtaq Ahmed picked up two wickets apiece, conceding 45 and 52 runs respectively.

At the KCCA Stadium, young Faham-ul-Haq produced an excellent all-round performance to guide Sahir Associates to an 87-run victory over WAPDA. This was Sahir Associates’ third victory and WAPDA’s fourth defeat.

Faham struck 66 off 86 balls, including five fours and a six, to help Sahir Associates post 309 for eight in their stipulated 50 overs. He then returned figures of 6-0-30-4 as WAPDA were bowled out for 222 in 44 overs. Hafiz Mohammad Suleman was the other successful Sahir Associates bowler with three for 28, while only Mohammad Akhlaq (55) and Nabi Gul (47) offered notable resistance.

In Sahir Associates’ innings, Fahad Usman top-scored with 68, while Usman Khan made 61 and Mohammad Faiq contributed a run-a-ball 34.

At the UBL Sports Complex, Ghani Glass defeated defending champions State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) by five wickets. This was Ghani Glass’s second win and SBP’s fourth defeat.

Batting first, SBP were bowled out for 150 in 39.3 overs as Mohammad Rameez Jnr and Shoaib Akhtar Jnr ran through the batting. Rameez claimed four for 29 and Shoaib took four for 37, while Mohammad Huraira (36) and Mohammad Irfan Khan (34) were among the top scorers.

In reply, Mohsin Riaz scored 59 and Hammad Butt remained unbeaten on 32 as Ghani Glass reached the 151-run target for the loss of five wickets in 37 overs.

Under the Naya Nazimabad Cricket Ground floodlights, KRL defeated PTV by 71 runs. This was KRL’s third win and PTV’s third loss.

Batting first, KRL posted 283 for seven, with Shahzaib Khan smashing 87 off 107 balls, including five fours and four sixes. Alongside Saad Baig (51), Shahzaib added 99 for the first wicket, before putting on 92 for the second wicket with Waqar Ahmed (47). Iftikhar Ahmed provided the finishing touches with a 54-ball 63 not out, featuring three sixes and three fours.

In response, Arshad Iqbal rocked PTV with figures of four for 41, while Sufiyan Muqeem picked up three for 41 as PTV were bowled out for 212 in 46.1 overs. Taimur Khan (68) and Yasir Khan (60) were the main contributors.
